Web front-end + database

Preferable to code these using a modern web framework: Django or Rails.

Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)

• The research world really needs a free, open-source, easy to use LIMS aimed at the needs of small-medium size molecular biology labs.
• My previous attempt - JoomlaLIMS is old, buggy and difficult to maintain
• it is also the basis for Your Lab Data

This is an ideal web framework project as it's mainly a simple CRUD frontend to a database.

ColdBase

• ColdBase on Rails
• Some years ago, I maintained a simple MySQL database + PHP frontend of biophysical properties for cold-active enzymes.
• This should be revived, redesigned and made into a community project

Firefox Extensions

• Citation/bibliography in Google Docs, Google Notebook or Zoho Writer, using CiteULike or Connotea

Better EOL

• EOL on Rails? EOL 2.0? Wikipedia + Flickr + GMaps + NCBI + GScholar + APIs = better EOL
• Main server: fork it, create your own -> XML -> upload/merge

• Idea - make it (look) like a real lab notebook?

Admittedly little to do with research - but fun and educational.

• Open all Wordpress.com links in new window (new tab)
• FriendFeed comments widget for WordPress.com, Tumblr (others?)
